The Cornell Systems Engineering Program is experiencing significant growth, driven by strong recognition through innovative industry collaborations and honors from leading professional societies. To support this momentum, we are inviting applications for a new faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or (full) Teaching Professor. We seek a candidate with expertise in artificial intelligence and data science, who can apply these skills to address engineering challenges in systems, particularly for manufacturing or energy systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to design and deliver courses, lead impactful projects, and shape the future of smart manufacturing, energy optimization, and sustainable industrial solutions.
This is an open-rank, full-time, on-campus, non-tenure-track position with a long-term, renewable appointment. The role focuses primarily on teaching a moderate number of courses and advising Master of Engineering projects. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent). Academic ranks of Assistant, Associate, or (full) Teaching Professor will be determined based on experience and qualifications. Teaching Professors are expected to deliver high-quality classroom instruction, contribute to curriculum development, advance pedagogical practices, and mentor other educators.

Pay Ranges: $58,300 - $237,300
The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:
- Prior relevant work or industry experience.
- Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
- Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
- Unique applicable skills.
