Major Gifts Officer

Davidson College, one of the nation's leading liberal arts colleges, seeks a Major Gifts Officer (MGO). Candidates should possess a record of professional relationship management and the confidence and strategic thinking skills necessary to close significant philanthropic commitments. MGOs at Davidson manage a portfolio of approximately 120 donors and are deployed throughout the US. Responsibilities include:
- Develop and manage productive philanthropic relationships with donors (alums, parents, and friends) capable of making significant commitments.
- Use the Blackbaud Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) system to develop and maintain individualized prospect solicitation plans based on donorÂinterests and institutional priorities.
- Travel regularly to assigned regions primarily in the mid-Atlantic region (regional assignments are subject to change).
- Conduct a minimum of 144 prospect meetings annually.
- Meet measurable annual goals and monthly performance metrics.
- Manage travel logistics and expenses.
- Serve as liaison for a specific area(s) of the college.
- Engage in campus life through attendance at various events.
- Staff College Relations special events as needed.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum three years' experience in development or closely related field (e.g., sales or marketing)
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel extensively
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
MGOs must possess strong communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, and must be self-directed, motivated, and organized. An MGO must be able to engage and develop rapport with donors from diverse backgrounds. High professional ethics and standards are required.

Other important information:
- As a community-oriented institution, Davidson requires MGOs to work primarily from campus. After a period of three months, MGOs are permitted to apply to work remotely for up to two days per week.
