Lecturer of Mechatronics
Lecturer of MechatronicsJefferson Community College, Watertown, New York, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, seeks a full-time, tenure-track Lecturer of MechatronicsÂto join the STEM, Health Professions, and Business Division. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing a new academic program in Mechatronics. This position offers the opportunity for leadership within the department and requires a commitment to student success, academic excellence, and community engagement. Faculty are expected to contribute to the College's Strategic Plan and work collaboratively with colleagues and institutional leadership.
TheÂLecturer of MechatronicsÂwill teach a range of technical instructional courses requiring in-depth knowledge of two or more of the following topics: Electrical AC/DC, Multimeters, Precision Measuring Instruments, Mechanical Systems, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Programmable Logic Controllers, Sensors, and Robotics.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and revising curricula and syllabi that align with current industry standards, while fostering a dynamic, learner centered classroom environment that promotes critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The instructor will be actively involved in assessing student learning outcomes at both the course and program levels, using data to inform continuous improvement and ensure alignment with institutional goals and general education standards.
In addition to teaching, the instructor will lead the development of a new academic program in Mechatronics, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
The faculty role also involves advising students on academic and career pathways, cultivating internship and job placement opportunities through partnerships with industry, and maintaining strong relationships with the community and professional organizations. The instructor will utilize instructional technologies such as D2L Brightspace and Amatrol LMS and will select appropriate software, equipment, and materials to enhance student learning and engagement.
Required:Â Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field, two (2) years of industry experience, and evidence of successful teaching experience.
$50,000-$77,269/yr. for well-qualified individuals, based upon experience and education.
