UMH Sparrow - PLUMBER II University of Michigan Health-Sparrow JOB TYPE: Full Time JOB DESCRIPTION: Purpose of Job: Installation and maintenance of all plumbing systems including sanitary facilities, water supplies, storm water and sewage disposal, medical gases and fire protection sprinkler systems. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

• Designs and implements a progressive preventive maintenance system.
• Ensures and provides a safe means of disposal of sanitary sewer and storm drainage system throughout the hospital.
• Provides for the installation of all domestic hot and cold water as needed throughout the hospital. Maintains and repairs hot & chilled water piping for heating/cooling systems.
• Provides, installs and maintains all medical gases necessary for the operation of the hospital.
• Installs and maintains fire protection sprinkler system.
• Performs and communicates with and around all patients, staff, and visitors within the confines of the hospital.
• Participates in On-Call Program for trade area.
• Serves as a role model for consistent demonstration of Sparrow Health System's Customer Service Behavioral Standards of Performance, by respecting the Privacy and Confidentiality of those we serve.
• Demonstrates knowledge and respects patient, service provider, and organizational confidentiality and HIPAA Security procedures and protocols as defined under the HIPAA Privacy and Security Procedures.
• Follows established HIPAA privacy procedures when using and/or disclosing protected health information.

Job Requirements General Requirements

• State of Michigan Journeyman Plumber License or higher.
• Drives hospital/department vehicles. Must have valid driver's license.

Work Experience

• 6 Years Journeyman experience preferred

Education

• High School Diploma or GED

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of plumbing code required by the city or state
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Demonstrated mathematical skills
