Vice President for Academic Affairs & Chief Academic Officer (Vice President)
Tidewater Community CollegeThe Vice President for Academic Affairs & Chief Academic Officer (Vice President) provides strategic, college-wide leadership for the development and delivery of educational programs of the highest quality and currency. The position functions as the chief academic officer of the college. As such, the Vice President oversees college-wide academic programs and services in the credit area, Distance Learning, and Libraries. The Vice President reports directly to the College President and serves on the President's Cabinet.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the college's academic programs and services in the credit area, ensuring both their integrity and currency.
- Lead TCC's long-range curriculum planning efforts, ensuring that the college's academic programs proactively respond to the workforce needs of area business and industry and complement the economic development vision and goals of the region.
- In concert with the faculty and academic administrators, develop and implement a plan for on-going accountability and development which employs the concepts of "national benchmarking" and "performance standards."
- Provide college-wide leadership for establishing innovative partnerships with area high schools, four-year colleges and universities, and other education and training providers which advance the college's mission while promoting the highest of academic standards.
- In concert with the faculty and Office of Human Resources, develop and implement a plan for on-going faculty professional renewal which addresses the needs of all faculty.
- Serve as the college's Chief Accreditation Officer for academic programs for both regional and specialized accreditations.
- Collaborate with the college's Vice President for Workforce Development in meeting the education and training needs of area business, industry, and government for a world-class workforce.
- Collaborate with the Vice President for Student Affairs to ensure that student support services are appropriately integrated with academic programs to promote student success.
- Collaborate with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement to assure that the college's Grants and Sponsored Programs function secures funding from federal, state, local, corporate, and foundation sources to advance the college's vision in the academic areas.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the College President.
Required Qualifications
An earned doctorate from an institutionally accredited college or university.
