Position Purpose
The Dean of Humanities, Fine Arts, and Social Sciences provides visionary leadership, strategic direction, and administrative oversight for the Division, which encompasses 20 academic disciplines and six-degree programs, including Education, General Studies, liberal Arts, Visual and Performing Arts (Fine Arts and Theatre and Drama specializations), Early Childhood Development, and Graphic Design. The Dean is responsible for developing, organizing, planning, implementing, supervising, and evaluating the schedule of course offerings and curricular programs to meet the needs of a diverse student body and community.
This position plays a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant learning environment, enhancing the quality of teaching, and promoting student success through innovative partnerships, program development, and continuous improvement.
The dean reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Workforce Development
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution in a discipline represented in the Division.
Demonstrated commitment to the community college mission and philosophy.
Knowledge of issues in community college and higher education.
Full-time teaching experience at the college level.
Administrative experience with demonstrated leadership and management skills.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proven ability to work collaboratively and build effective teams.
Experience in curriculum development and budget management.
Additional Considerations
Doctorate from an accredited institution in higher education administration, a related field, or a discipline represented in the division.
At least three years of progressive experience in community college teaching and administration.
At least three years of college-level teaching in the division discipline.
