Position Purpose
The Dean of Enrollment Services plays a pivotal role in achieving equitable outcomes for students in a student-ready college. As a student affairs leader, the Dean provides vision and leadership of student affairs programs, including outreach and admissions, student records, advising, veterans' affairs, strategic enrollment management, and retention. The Dean advances strategies and programs to increase persistence, retention, and academic success for students in workforce, credit career, and transfer pathways. This leader will enhance the student experience through collaboration with campus partners and expand efforts to maximize student success, retention, and enrollment while developing and supporting their team. The Dean will be a steadfast advocate for assisting campus stakeholders in understanding their role in student success and achieving desired and equitable student outcomes.
The Dean will join Piedmont Virginia Community College at an exciting and pivotal time that presents a significant opportunity to expand access, degree completion, and student post-graduation success in collaboration with campus partners. This leader reports directly to the Vice President of Student Affairs. The Dean should have a proven history as a student affairs leader who has successfully turned strategy into quantifiable improved student success outcomes. Furthermore, the Dean will have experience inspiring others and building consensus across internal and external stakeholder groups to achieve bold visions, strategic and operational leadership, and the integrity and compassion to exemplify the College's mission, vision, and values.
The dean reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum five years of full-time college administrative experience in student affairs at the Dean/Director level or above.
- Commitment to the community college mission and philosophy.
- Knowledge of current theory, principles, and practices in student enrollment and development.
- Demonstrated leadership and project and program management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to work as a team player and build a highly effective team.
- Demonstrated skill in managing budgets, equipment, and other institutional resources.
Additional Considerations
- Doctorate from an accredited institution in student affairs, higher education administration, or related field.
- Experience leading multiple student service and support programs.
