Assistant Dean of Admission
Emory University School of Law ("Emory Law") seeks a new Assistant Dean of Admission to lead a collegial, student-service-oriented professional operation. Reporting to the Dean and working collaboratively with the Dean's leadership team, faculty, alumni and the legal community, the Assistant Dean supervises six to ten professional staff and provides the vision and administrative leadership for all functions related to law school admissions and financial aid programs.
As Emory Law's chief admissions and financial aid officer, the Assistant Dean provides leadership in the overall operation of the Admission Office, formulates admission standards and enrollment targets in collaboration with the Dean, and manages a departmental budget and small staff. The Assistant Dean develops enrollment and marketing plans that produce stronger applicant pools and greater yields. In collaboration with the Office of Marketing and Communications, the Assistant Dean executes a strategy that supports key admissions goals, including the production of relevant multi-media products (e.g., website, blogs, video, etc.) The Assistant Dean ensures effective and professional communications with prospects, applicants, admitted students and their families; identifies and implements leading-edge technological strategies for managing resources and information; and coordinates technological development with other university offices, outside agencies and vendors. The Assistant Dean advises the Vice Dean on all admissions-related issues; actively participates in application reading, interviewing and evaluations; works with faculty, staff, students and administrators to develop post-admission recruitment events; prepares and presents comprehensive reports and data analyses related to admissions trends and demographics. The Assistant Dean develops and implements competitive marketing and recruitment strategies to strengthen the academic quality; and takes a data-informed, comprehensive approach to building enrollment and strategically leveraging financial aid to meet enrollment, inclusion and retention goals.
The Assistant Dean is responsible for strategically distributing Emory Law's financial aid budget to students and balancing the standardized test and GPA qualifications of the incoming class to meet the goals of Emory Law. The Assistant Dean directly engages potential students to encourage them to choose Emory Law as their law school and leads retention efforts following their matriculation. The new Assistant Dean should be a problem-solver who is equipped to assess and improve existing practices and build new systems that will sustain a high-functioning enrollment operation.
Emory Law seeks candidates with experience in mature law school admissions operations, including administrators with demonstrated success in managing projects related to admissions and financial aid who are ready to step up in seniority.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree is essential; a JD or other relevant graduate degree preferred.
- Four years of experience in law school admissions and financial aid.
- Demonstrated compliance experience with all federal, state and university regulations and policies as they relate to admissions and financial aid.
