CAREER NAVIGATOR

Job Duties:
Reporting to the Director of Career Readiness & Success, the Career Navigator will establish and maintain a portfolio of
career readiness programming for all Rockland Community College students. This includes the design and delivery of career development and work-based learning programming such as internships, mentorships, career fairs, career interest inventories, setting up skills profiles, and more. Working at the nexus between employers and faculty, and staff, the Career Navigator, will be a critical component to institutionalize career development across academic programs and extra-curricular activities. They will support the job and internship placement of students and monitor their success.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Plan and implement a comprehensive career readiness program, events, and workshops for students and graduates.
  • Work collaboratively with Human Resources and Finance stakeholders to place students in internships and other employment opportunities after earning an RCC credential.
  • Liaise with internal schools and their faculty on the development, evaluation, and enhancement of work-based learning opportunities, internships, and apprenticeships.
  • Provide career advisement to students, including but not limited to career goals, requirements of specific occupations, and job market trends.
  • Supervise the receiving of job orders from employers; match students and graduates to jobs and maintain records of students and graduates placed in positions.
  • Maintain RCC's job search tools, including communication to students, faculty, and employers.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with area employers, job placement agencies, and workforce development boards.
  • Be knowledgeable about educational programs offered at RCC and the relationship between products/services of business and industry.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay up-to-date on best practices within the field;
  • Participate in and support ongoing assessment, planning, and evaluation to improve student learning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, which contribute to the efficient and effective operation of a career readiness framework at RCC.

    Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical experience
  • One- two years related experience
  • Experience with and understanding of student success and retention
  • Knowledge of current challenges of the target population and strategies to support their success.

    Starting Salary: $65,000 - $68,000
