Rhode Island College invites applicants for the position of Cloud SysOps Administrator. This is a full-time, calendar year, continuing position.
The Cloud SysOps Administrator is responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and supporting the college's cloud-based technical infrastructure. This role administers cloud platforms - primarily Windows and secondarily Linux - while building tools to ensure secure, reliable, and cost efficient cloud operations. The engineer oversees cloud service provisioning, monitoring, automation, and access management, and supports migrations of on premise systems into cloud environments.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining backup and disaster recovery solutions, producing technical documentation, troubleshooting cloud dependent services, and contributing to best practices in cloud security, performance monitoring, and system administration. The role also involves collaborating on technical planning, supervising student employees or technicians, and supporting cross departmental IT initiatives. Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, along with deep cloud and server administration experience, are essential.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum of six years' experience in the design, installation and maintenance of computer systems, server administration, cloud technology, SysOps/DevOps engineering of which two years' experience shall be in the area of cloud services technical support.
