This faculty position serves as both Surgical Technology faculty and Surgical Technology Program Director. The faculty member is responsible for teaching didactic, laboratory, simulation, and clinical courses; providing leadership for program accreditation and compliance; maintaining program quality and outcomes; overseeing adjunct faculty; participating in curriculum development and assessment; and supporting student recruitment, retention, and success. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, weekend, hybrid, online, and clinical instruction and may occur at any Germanna campus, center, or clinical affiliate as needed. This position supports compliance with Virginia Community College System requirements and applicable programmatic accreditation standards.
In addition to fulfilling all responsibilities expected of Germanna full-time faculty, the Surgical Technology faculty member will be responsible for the following duties:

- Program Leadership and Administration
- Curriculum, Assessment, and Institutional Responsibilities
- Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or other credential required by accreditation standards.
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in the teaching field with demonstrated competency in teaching field.
- Minimum of two years of experience as a surgical technologist in an operating room scrub role.
- Must meet all current qualifications required of a Surgical Technology Program Director as defined by applicable programmatic accreditation standards.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Demonstrated teaching ability or educational experience.
- Ability to satisfy clinical agency requirements, including background checks, drug screening, immunizations, and other onboarding requirements.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate student success in higher education.
- Experience using instructional technology and learning management systems.
